Kwik Sew 2918 - Summer T-shirts

I know that a lot of people think that sewing for boys isn't much fun.  I might agree.  But, when you're looking to clothe your family as much as have fun sewing, I find sewing for my son simpler and faster than sewing for my daughters.

These shirts are exactly the same as the ones I made last year, just one size bigger.  I wasn't sure that I should do that at first, but I couldn't come up with a good reason not to - other than it being a little weird, but I could hardly consider that a "good" reason.  Anyway, my son is happy with them, I used up more of my stash, and he has more much-needed warm weather shirts.

Having new clothes for the kids to wear makes them much more cooperative with getting dressed in the morning.  However, it does not seem to help them with the issue of matching tops and bottoms...

  1. I don't think it's weird in the slightest. It might be a little strange if they were the same prints, but then again if he liked them enough and wore them out, or outgrew them, make another. I wear the same shirts from Gap Body almost all the time (by default), and buy them year after year. Maybe it's because I was raised wearing uniforms?

At any rate, these are very cute, and he looks happy with them.

  2. They look like entirely different shirts with the fabrics you've chosen. I don't see a lot of people sewing for boys, but it's something I really enjoy - maybe because my boys really appreciate it. Boys' clothes also have some fun details that girls' clothes don't have.

  3. Ah he looks great in his t-shirts....re-using a pattern or fabric is not strange at all. ..boys need lots of T-shirts and that pattern is perfect to build a wardrobe and they all look different because of the fabric/prints.

  4. All of your t-shirts are wonderfully made and beautiful fabric. They are made better than most ready made garments. One of my goals in life is to make clothes that are beautifully made and select a great fabric to go with it. Thanks for the inspiration and your blog.
